Family Storytime: A storytime experience for children and their adults on Friday, May 31 at 10:30 a.m. at the Wheaton Library. The session is designed to introduce children to the culture of reading with books, songs, rhymes and fun activities. Play Day at Clarkmont Park: Toddlers of all abilities explore nature in the Clarkmont Local Park Friday, May 31 from 11 a.m. to noon. Families will explore at their own pace using nature play prompts and materials provided by Montgomery Parks staff. Siblings are welcome, too. Bethesda Big Train Vs. Southern Maryland Senators: Come out to the Shirley Povich Field for this summer collegiate wooden bat baseball exhibition game Friday, May 31 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 and may be purchased online here. The field is located at 10600 Westlake Drive in Rockville.
Saturday, June 1
Met Fest 2024: Met Fest gaming festival features amateur, Pro-Am, high school, and collegiate Esports tournaments, open game play and activations centered around the most popular, brand safe, competitive video games. Also there will be college Esports programs and professionals in the gaming entertainment industry who will offer information on college scholarships, educational and professional opportunities for gamers to level up their skills. The festival takes place Saturday, June 1 at 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. Tickets are $30 per day. White Oak Day: Join Montgomery County Recreation for the 12th Annual White Oak Day on Saturday, June 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy food, fun and games, inflatables, live music, vendors and more. Taste of Riverworks Festival: The festival features plein air painting around the Agricultural Reserve, a wet paint auction of the artwork, live music, dance performances, beer and wine, art activities for adults and children alike, and food from Locals Farm Market. Starting at 11 a.m., visit plein air painters at their painting locations to observe their work, which will be for sale by silent auction in the afternoon. At 2 p.m., music performances will begin outside at Locals Farm Market, before moving to West Willard Road. And then at 4 p.m. festivities begin at the site of Riverwork’s future performing arts center, with food, drink, wet paint auction, and more music. Sunday, June 2
Taste of Wheaton: Come get a “taste” for all Wheaton has to offer on Sunday, June 2, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Marian Fryer Town Plaza in downtown Wheaton. Try delicious food from diverse ethnic restaurants, enjoy live entertainment and dance from local performers, and participate in arts and crafts from a curated list of artisans. Kids’ rides, art and craft projects and beer and wine garden available. The event will take place rain or shine. The plaza is located at 2424 Reedie Drive in Wheaton. World Heritage Festival: Celebrate diversity on Sunday, June 2, from 1 to 7 p.m. at Veterans Plaza in downtown Silver Spring. The festival features arts and crafts, food vendors, cultural music and dance performances, a live DJ and dancing. Free admission, pet friendly, rain or shine. For more information, click here.
Rockville Pride: The city of Rockville celebrates Pride Month Sunday, June 2 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Rockville Town Square. Rockville Pride features live performances, information booths and dialogue, HIV testing, arts and craft and children’s activities. Free, open to all ages.
