The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) annual Street Sweeping Program began Monday, April 8.
The effort runs through June, covering more than 4,100 lane miles of residential roadways. These efforts help promote the health of local watersheds and the overall health of the Chesapeake Bay.
MCDOT will post “No Parking” signs a few days in advance of sweeping operations. Residents can find the sweeping schedule by calling MC311 or visiting MCDOT’s Residential Street Sweeping website.
The county prioritizes sweeping routes based on their proximity to sensitive watershed areas identified by the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection.
Last year, the program collected and removed more than 800 tons of debris, according to MCDOT.
