The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) encourages elementary schools from across the County to participate in “Bike and Roll to School Day” on Wednesday, May 8.
The annual event gives students the opportunity to experience active commuting and learn about the benefits of safe travel to schools by biking and walking. The campaign helps bring awareness to pedestrian safety, increasing physical activity and environmental concerns.
The National Center For Safe Routes to School launched the Vision Zero for Youth initiative in 2016, which included Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day events. Every year, the MCDOT Safe Routes to School team selects one elementary school in the County to promote the event and bring awareness to pedestrian safety.
MCDOT encourages all elementary schools in Montgomery County, with the support of students, parents and the community, to participate and help kids choose a safe route to bike and roll to their home school.
