MCDOT Launches Annual ‘Paint The Plow’ Contest For Middle Schools

Paint the Plow returns for its fourth year, celebrating this year’s Public Works theme: “People, Purpose & Presence.”

Montgomery County’s Truck Day, a free and family-friendly event, will take place on Saturday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the MCDOT Truck Depot and Salt Barn, 17000 Crabbs Branch Way in Rockville. Attendees can touch, climb, and explore various County vehicles, including first-response, construction, and transportation vehicles.

MCDOT will deliver paint supplies to participating middle schools between 7-9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, and collect the decorated plows between noon-3 p.m. on Thursday, May 15. The plows will then be displayed at Truck Day, where attendees can vote for their favorite design.

Truck Day kicks off National Public Works Week, recognizing the essential contributions of highway services professionals.

The contest offers cash prizes to the top three schools: $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place.

Schools must register by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 11.
