The battle for Germantown bragging rights returns to Northwest High School this Thursday, as Northwest hosts Seneca Valley in round one of the state playoffs.

Northwest finished the season 7-2, suffering back-to-back losses to Churchill and Quince Orchard in October. However, the Jaguars returned to form in their final regular season game, dominating Einstein, 38-6.

The first-round playoff matchup features crosstown rivals, who play each year for “The King’s Trophy.” Northwest overwhelmed Seneca Valley on Sep. 22, claiming the trophy once again.

The Screaming Eagles haven’t knocked off their Germantown rival since 2015.

Seneca Valley finished its regular season 4-5, winning its final game over Magruder, 14-7.

Seneca Valley averages just 16.1 points per game, with Northwest’s total nearly doubling them with 31.5 per game.

The winner battles undefeated Quince Orchard, who has a bye week. The Jaguars and Screaming Eagles each fell to Quince Orchard in the regular season.

The game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at Northwest High School.
