Montgomery County police arrested and charged Brady Santos, 31, for the burglary of storage units in Silver Spring, according to authorities.
At approximately 9:11 a.m. on Nov. 19, MCPD responded to reports of a burglary at the Extra Space Storage facility at 7722 Fenton Street. An employee stated that the suspect was seen entering and exiting through a secure metal gate.
The employee provided police with a description and stated that he believed the suspect to be Santos. He explained that Santos was a former customer at an Extra Space Storage facility in Washington, D.C. and had been banned from all locations.
An officer observed a male matching the suspect’s description walking on Fenton Street toward Burlington Avenue. When prompted to stop by police, the suspect ran. He had been carrying a suitcase and two bags that he discarded when shouted at by police.
Officers identified the suspect as Santos and arrested him after stopping him in the 8000 block of Georgia Avenue. Police located tools used to commit burglary and theft on Santos and in his bags.
Upon his arrest, Santos was also served with two criminal warrants. Detectives are looking into the possibility that Santos committed additional burglaries at other storage facilities in the area.
Santos was charged with second-degree burglary and is being held without bond.
