MCPL’s Contemporary Conversations Features Anti-Racist Educator Tim Wise
The Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) Contemporary Conversations series continues with Tim Wise on Thursday, July 11. The free event, titled “On Race, Class, and Privilege: An Evening with Tim Wise,” will take place at the Rockville Memorial Library.
Wise will examine the connections between systemic racism, white racial privilege, and America’s class system, with particular attention to the current backlash to racial justice efforts in schools and the workplace since the racial justice uprising of 2020. He is the author of nine books, including his highly acclaimed memoir, “White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son.”
Wise is among the most prominent anti-racist writers and educators in the U.S. He has spent the past 25 years speaking to audiences in all 50 states. Wise has trained professionals in various fields on how to dismantle racial inequity. These fields include corporate, government, entertainment, media, law enforcement, military, and medical industries. He has provided anti-racism training to educators and administrators nationwide and internationally.
Wise spoke to the staff and faculty of Prince George’s Community College recently. Here’s the video of his presentation:
