The Montgomery County Public Libraries’ (MCPL) 2023 summer reading challenge will kick off on Saturday, June 17 at the Rockville Memorial Library.
The theme of this year’s challenge is “All Together Now.” This slogan embodies kindness, friendship and unity, according to a county press release.
The June 17 kickoff party runs from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and will include book giveaways, craft tables and entertainment. Children and teenagers can sign up for the challenge at this event, online or at any MCPL branch.
Challenge participants can earn e-badges throughout the summer that will help local nonprofits — such as Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center, Manna Food Center and Montgomery Parks Foundation — benefit the community.
The challenge, which is sponsored by Friends of the Library, Montgomery County and the Washington Nationals baseball team, will run through Aug. 31.
