Montgomery County Public Schools announced all of its schools and the virtual academy will dismiss early Wednesday because of pending severe weather conditions.
MCPS released a notice to families that said:
Significant amounts of rainfall with the potential for dangerous flash flooding are expected as part of the remnants of Hurricane Ida. Students will be dismissed 2.5 hours earlier than the usual dismissal times. All school and community-use activities in school buildings also are canceled. Daycare programs in school buildings will be closed. MCPS employees will receive further information about the status of administrative offices.
The news comes as students enter their third day of classes for the academic year.
