On Tuesday, the League of Educators for Asian American Progress (LEAAP) hosted its 34th annual banquet in celebration of the Lunar New Year in Gaithersburg at the Hong Kong Pearl Restaurant.
The event helps pay for scholarships for students of Asian American heritage who look to pursue a career in education. But this year, in light of the recent events within the county school system, it also became an occasion to look forward.
