Representatives from more than 50 HBCUs (historically black colleges and universities) will attend Montgomery County Public Schools’ (MCPS) 16th annual HBCU college fair on Feb. 16.
The representatives will answer questions from students and families about majors, testing, financial aid, admissions, and more. The fair is geared towards students in grades 8-12, the school district said.
The fair will include discussions on college student life, scholarship resources and assistance with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A college preparation workshop aimed specifically at middle schoolers and their families will also take place, MCPS said.
The event, to be held at the Universities at Shady Grove in Rockville, is free to attend and is scheduled for 6:00-8:30 p.m. It is co-sponsored by MCPS and the Montgomery County Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
Registration by students and their guardians is required to attend. MCPS is asking its staff and administrators to volunteer to support the event. Those interested can email Hope_L_McGuire@mcpsmd.org or sign up at this link.
