Two Montgomery County Public School employees working at the Glen Haven Elementary School meal distribution site have tested positive for coronavirus, MCPS announced in a letter Monday.
The employees were food and nutrition service staff members. The last day they worked at the site was March 26, and they were not symptomatic at the time, according to MCPS.
MCPS said that as a precaution, the employees who worked with the two staff members have been asked to self quarantine for 14 days. In addition, anyone who visited the site before March 26 should self monitor for symptoms. Although, based on discussions with the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, MCPS believes the risk level for community members is low.
The employees who tested positive for the virus were wearing masks and gloves at the time. They handled food that was pre-packaged in the kitchen and put on tables to be delivered to cars for students and parents, according to MCPS.
As a result, MCPS temporarily closed their school kitchen and is now using a mobile delivery truck for food distribution at Glen Haven.
Community members are encouraged to contact their health provider if they experience any symptoms or have questions.
