Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will host the Hispanic College Fair on Friday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Universities at Shady Grove in Rockville. This event will help students explore college options and learn about the admissions process.
In conjunction with the fair, a Hispanic Parent Night: Financing College Information Session will occur on Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at 15 W. Gude Drive, Third Floor, Potomac Room. This session helps Hispanic families understand how to finance a college education.
Beverly Coleman, director of the TRIO Educational Opportunity Center at Montgomery College (MC), and Rhonda McLaren-Scott, financial aid outreach counselor at MC, will lead presentations on available financial aid options. They will also guide attendees through the process of creating a Federal Student Aid Identification (FSA ID) number. Participants can create their FSA ID during the workshop. Spanish-speaking interpreters from MCPS and MC will assist during the session. Online registration is available here.
For those who prefer a virtual option, Collegiate Directions and MCPS will host a Spanish-language Financial Aid Night on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Families can register in advance, and the Zoom link will be provided upon registration. Questions can be directed to Jill Semmens. Online registration is available here.
Additionally, every high school in Montgomery County offers free financial aid nights for MCPS students and their families, providing multiple opportunities to learn about securing college funding.
These events aim to equip Hispanic students and families with the tools and information they need to navigate college applications and financial aid processes successfully.
