Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) reviewed two proposed calendars for the 2021-22 school year Tuesday morning — but took no action. Between now and its March 23 vote, MCPS plans to reach out to the public for feedback on the choices. One starts before Labor Day and the other that begins after the holiday.
In one scenario, school would start on Monday, Aug. 30, 2021 and continue through Wednesday, June 15, 2022. In the second scenario, school begins on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021 and continues until Wednesday, June 22, 2022. In that scenario, Labor Day falls on Sept. 6 and the next day is the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashana so the opening day is planned for Sept. 8.
Both calendars include 182 days of instructional learning.
There was a brief discussion on snow days, but no action was taken.
