The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration, Montgomery County Department of Transportation, and Metro will host a public meeting Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to gather feedback on a pilot project using approximately seven miles of bus-only lanes on Georgia Avenue, Veirs Mill Road, and Colesville Road.
The meeting will be held at the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission headquarters at 2425 Reedie Drive in Wheaton.
Curbside bus lanes and signal timing adjustments were implemented along Georgia Avenue (MD 97) from Urban Drive in Glenmont to Wayne Avenue in Silver Spring to support Metro’s summer closure. The bus-only lanes, which were extended through December, are in effect daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Representatives from the State Highway Administration and Montgomery County Department of Transportation will discuss evaluations of the bus lane performance. Attendees will be invited to complete a survey, which is also available on the project website.
Attendees needing an interpreter for hearing or speech assistance, or help with the English language, can email SHATitleVI@mdot.maryland.gov, specifying their preferred language in the subject line. Teletype users can access the Maryland Relay Service by dialing 7-1-1.
