County Executive Marc Elrich and Metro General Manager/CEO Randy Clarke signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the North Bethesda Metro station, as Metro and Montgomery County partner to bring a science-anchored development to 14 acres of land around the station.
The county and Metro together will solicit developers to create a life sciences-focused and transit-oriented community at the station around the University of Maryland’s Institute for Health Computing. The Institute for Health Computing will conduct research in artificial intelligence, machine learning and virtual and augmented reality — and brings graduate-level research to the county for the first time.
U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen delivered a $5 million check during the signing event Monday afternoon.
