With the school year right around the corner, Metro wants to help make sure children have everything they need.
On Saturday the agency holds their first ever Back-to-School Celebration and School Supply Giveaway. Families from all across the DMV are invited to Fort Totten Station for music, fun, games, and free supplies. The Metro Transit Police Department’s Community Services Bureau hosts the event. All of the items provided were collected by employees from across the region.
“This is an opportunity for our MTPD officers and employees to support the DMV and create positive relationships with the community,” said MTPD Chief Michael Anzallo. “Metrorail, Metrobus and MTPD help thousands of kids get to and from school throughout the year. In addition to keeping them safe, we want to ensure that every student has the supplies they need to start school.”
Metro General manager and Chief Executive Officer Randy Clarks expects to attend along with other Metro executives to assist families, The event will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot. Children of all ages are welcome to attend and enjoy activities like a moon bounce, a live DJ, and free food.
