Five Red Line Metro stations including three in Montgomery County – Bethesda, Grosvenor-Strathmore, Medical Center – celebrated their 40th anniversaries Sunday. Friendship Heights and Tenleytown-AU are the others.
More than 688 million customer trips have been made through these stations since their opening Aug. 25, 1984 according to WMATA.
According to WMATA, the Bethesda station had had 187 million trips, Grosvenor and Tenleytown had 92 million each.
