When Abby Meyers was a star player at Whitman High School, she received attention from many schools including Maryland. Both sides agreed she wasn’t quite ready for the rigors of the Big Ten at that point. She ultimately chose Princeton because it was a better fit.
Once Meyers completed her senior season in 2022, she had one more year of eligibility remaining. Meyers picked Maryland which was coming off a year where they lost 75% of their scoring to graduation and transfers.
Myers and Maryland have been the perfect fit for each other. The Terps have surprised many with a 21-5 (12-3 in the Big Ten) record thanks in large part to Meyers’ play. The 6’0′ Potomac native is enjoying a successful senior season averaging 14.2 points per game and providing much needed leadership playing back home.
Maryland’s next game is Saturday at 3 p.m. at Michigan State.
