The 14-year-old middle schooler who was critically injured as he crossed Wisteria Drive in Germantown May 9 succumbed to his injuries on May 12, according to Montgomery County Police.
Elijah was walking home from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School when he was struck by a high school driver. The driver remained on the scene.
According to a GoFundMe page in memory of the eighth grader, he suffered trauma to his brain, which was irreversible. His organs were donated.
“Elijah was full of life and a giving child,” it states on the GoFundMe page. “Elijah’s smile could light up a room, it was infectious.”
According to the GoFundMe page, three people’s lives now are forever changed – “The kid who hit Elijah, the friend who witnessed the collision and forever Elijah’s loss of life.”
As of Sunday afternoon, $14,500 has been raised from 331 donors.
The collision is under investigation.
