
Minds In Motion Child Care is hosting its 18th Annual Black History Month celebration in an event featuring, music, dance, poetry and politicians.
The event takes place Feb. 28 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Watkins Mill High School auditorium, 10301 Apple Ridge Road in Gaithersburg.
County Executive Marc Elrich and several members of county council will attend. There will be a special recognition of Del. Greg Wims for his service and commitment to the Black community.
The event includes performances by Elite AfroDance Team, the Diaspora Danzo dancers from Gaithersburg High School, Ayla Dennis, student steppers from Churchill High School and more.
“For more than a decade, we’ve used this celebration as an opportunity to uplift, educate, and showcase the beauty of Black culture,” said LaTisha Gasaway-Paul, co-founder of Minds In Motion Child Care. “It’s about fostering pride in our heritage, creating a space for learning, and bringing our community together in a meaningful way.”
This free event is open to all, and dinner will be provided.
