Martin Luther King Jr. Indoor Swim Center in Silver Spring will remain closed through September 2020.
Over the next few months, the aquatic center will experience several renovations, including: ADA improvements, a new roof, as well as cosmetic upgrades to the lobby and locker room areas.
Currently, all Montgomery County Recreation outdoor pools and aquatic centers remain closed. While an official reopening date has not been announced, the county hopes to reopen on a modified schedule in the coming weeks.
All pools must pass an inspection before they proceed to open. When they do open, individuals should expect to follow social distancing guidelines. A limited number of swimmers will be allowed in the pool at once.
For now, recreation staff members will continue to work on training and safety precautions.
