MonkeyCon is coming to Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg on Sunday, Aug. 6.
Residents can come dressed as their favorite character or superhero to the comic convention hosted by the Montgomery County Comic and Cosplay Club.
The event will be held 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6 at the Bohrer Park activity center, located at 506 S. Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg.
Tickets are $15 at the door, or $10 if purchased online beforehand using the code MONKEY.
Special guests include YouTuber Kitty Monk, DC Conspiracy, Superhero Support Volunteer Causeplay, Old Line Garrison, as well as podcaster, Twitch streamer, and hockey player Michael Lindenbaum, who will emcee MonkeyCon, per the event website.
There will be nearly 80 vendors and exhibitors, like Warped Vortex Art and Kitten Cafe Studios. Attendees can also join seminars and media screenings during the event.
A cosplay contest starts at 1 p.m. Participants must submit an online registration form and can see rules here.
Food trucks will also be stationed outside.
MonkeyCon is a separate event from the annual MoComCon, which was held in January of this year at Germantown Library.
