Artwork by 170 Montgomery College students will be projected on the Rockville campuses’ humanities building Thursday from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Our Patterns, Montgomery College is a collection of work by the students who reflected on their past, present and future. The work involves students from 12 classes during two semesters.
The work is led by artist in residence Natan Diacon-Furtado and is a collaboration among students in 2D Design studio classes for a community “quilt” of patterns. Some of the same pattern designs will be installed around the campus quad as sidewalk decals on April 25 in honor of Mental Health Day.
“Natan has worked virtually with us for almost two years. It is very exciting for the students that he is coming to the event Thursday in person,” said Professor of Art Amanda Gordon Miller, the coordinator of the Collaborative Artist in Residence (AiR) Program for the Rockville and Germantown Campus Art Departments.
AIR is a three-week program that brings a professional artist to the Rockville and Germantown art departments.
