The Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC) will participate in the nationwide Clear the Shelters event from now through Sept. 19. During the event, fees to adopt a pet will be cut by at least 50 percent and will be entirely waived for animals who have been in the shelter for more than 30 days.
Clear the Shelters is a nationwide pet adoption initiative whose goal is to find animals good homes.
Currently, MCASAC has over 100 animals available for adoption, including dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, snakes, guinea pigs and more. Additional animals become available each week.
Visit the MCASAC website to view all animals available for adoption. A hidden gems label indicates the animal has been in the shelter for more than 30 days, so the adoption fee is waived.
Requirements and details on adopting a new pet may be found at MCASAC website. Adoptions are first-come, first-served by appointment. Potential adopters can get the process started online or can walk-in to the shelter during open hours.
The MCASAC is located at 7315 Muncaster Mill Road in Derwood. The telephone number is 240.773.5900.
