Montgomery County Fire and Rescue crews were among three local jurisdictions to aid in a large apartment fire in Prince George’s County on Friday morning.
Just after 2:00 a.m., fire crews from Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, and Howard County responded to the 9100 block of Scott Adam Court in Laurel for the reported apartment fire. Officials say the fire was showing on all levels of a three story garden style apartment building when they arrived with three people trapped on a balcony.
According to the Prince George’s County Fire Department, seven residents were rescued and four transported. One patient has life threatening injuries, and two patients have non life threatening injuries. One person was evaluated, and three patients declined transport.
Officials say the Red Cross in the National Capital Region is assisting 23 adults and eight juveniles that have been displaced. Estimated property damage is about $150 thousand. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
