The 14th annual Montgomery County Older Adult Safety Forum will be held on Tuesday, June 11 at the Holiday Park Senior Center in Silver Spring.
The free event, which lasts from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., coincides with World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, observed on Saturday, June 15. This year’s Safety Forum is an informative in-person and live stream seminar discussing Montgomery County’s approach to a safer, longevity-ready community. The live stream is available from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
State’s Attorney John McCarthy will be the keynote speaker. His discussion will feature the family of a woman victimized by a “COVID cleaning scam.”
Participants will learn about county resources and view presentations from various county agencies. There will also be interactive activities, including music and a yoga demonstration.
The Montgomery County Elder/Vulnerable Adult Abuse Task Force, in collaboration with several county agencies, hosts the forum.
Lunch will be provided following the forum.
Participants can register for the forum at Holiday Park Senior Center, by calling 240-777-4999 during business hours, or online. Interpreters and other accommodations are available upon request. The center is located at 3950 Ferrara Drive in Wheaton.
