Montgomery County is under a Hyperthermia Alert from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday.
The county issues the alert when temperatures/heat index is forecast to be at least 95 degrees. This creates a “hazardous situation in which heat-stroke and heat exhaustion are likely,” according to the county.
A Hyperthermia Alert was also issued Tuesday as well as three consecutive days last week.
“Stay indoors if possible, drink plenty of water, avoid strenuous activity outdoors, wear proper protection against the sun, and please check on those most vulnerable,” County Executive Marc Elrich wrote on Twitter.
County Emergency Management and Homeland Security caution residents to stay hydrated and take measures to protect themselves and their pets. See hot weather safety tips and information here.
