Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) is set to begin their summer reading challenge Wednesday, according to a Montgomery County government press release. The theme for this year is “Oceans of Possibilities.” The challenge will run through August 31.
For the summer reading challenge, MCPL is teaming up with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to help keep plastic out of the waste stream. Participants can earn badges and complete missions that will help MCPL plant trees and restore oyster beds around the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
A kickoff event, featuring crafts tables and book giveaways, will be held at the Rockville Memorial Library on Saturday, June 18.
Participants can sign up online or at any public library starting June 15.
