U.S News and World Report ranked Montgomery County 55th in the top 500 healthiest communities in the country, per a tweet by the County Department of Health and Human Services.
The ranking is based on the average score of 10 individual categories given by U.S News.
Within the individual categories, the county has the highest scores in population health, economy, and food and nutrition. However, the county has the lowest scores in equity, housing, and community vitality.
Two neighboring counties have also been ranked on the list: Howard County is ranked 18th and Frederick County is ranked 215th.
Montgomery County placed 55th in a newly published US News ranking of the top 500 healthiest communities in the country.
