Montgomery County is ranked one of the least equitable school districts in Maryland according to finance website WalletHub. Only Howard County ranks lower than Montgomery County.
WalletHub ranked Maryland’s 24 school districts to determine where school funding is distributed equitably. Two figures, average household income and amount spent per student by the school district, were compared to the state’s figures to create a score for each district.
Montgomery County ranked 23rd out of 24 school districts in Maryland. The five most equitable school districts in Maryland are Baltimore County Schools, Worcester County, Harford County, Cecil County, and St. Mary’s County.
Data used to create this ranking were collected from the U.S. Census Bureau and the National Center for Education Statistics.
