The Montgomery County Department of Recreation kicks off its Cultural Heritage Concert Series for Black History Month Saturday in Silver Spring.
Featuring four performances across the next two weeks, the aim of the series is to “increase connection and promote greater understanding and respect,” according to the Department’s website.

The series is the product of a partnership between Montgomery County Recreation and Carpe Diem Arts, a performing arts charity based in Silver Spring.
Saturday’s concert featuring vocalist Alison Crockett and multi-instrumentalist Uasuf Gueye will be held at noon at Gwendolyn E. Coffield Community Recreation Center. Registration is requested through the ActiveMontgomery website here.

- Sunday, Feb. 18 – 1:00 p.m. at Plum Gar C.R.C. in Germantown
- Wednesday, Feb. 21 – 11:00 a.m. at Long Branch C.R.C. in Silver Spring
- Friday, Feb. 23 – 6:30 p.m. at Marilyn J. Praisner C.R.C. in Burtonsville
Each concert is free to the public and all ages are welcome.
