Montgomery Parks plans a two-day GreenFest Celebration for Earth Day on April 22 and 23. The event will be held at a different venue each day.
On Saturday April 22, GreenFest in the Gardens will be held at Brookside Gardens. It will showcase over 25 environmental non-profits. Attendees can check out a master gardening plant clinic and demonstrations on sustainable gardening and composting. Other attractions include children’s activities, tree giveaways, plant vendors and an arts and crafts fair, according to Montgomery Parks. There will be food for sale, including vegan and vegetarian options.
“This is our third year participating in GreenFest by hosting a fun, educational event at Brookside Gardens,” Mike Riley, director of Montgomery Parks, said in a press release. “Brookside Gardens is the perfect venue for this event – where attendees can enjoy the beautiful 52 acres of gardens while learning practical ways to help the environment.”
GreenFest in the Gardens runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Brookside Garden is located in Wheaton, at 1800 Glenallan Avenue.
On Sunday, April 23, GreenFest in the City will be held at Marian Fryer Town Plaza in downtown Wheaton. The urban celebration runs from 12 to 5 p.m. GreenFest in the City will include an electric car show, local vendors, music and activities for all ages. Marian Fryer Town Plaza is located at 2425 Reedie Drive in Wheaton.
According to Montgomery Parks, GreenFest is the largest annual environmental festival in the county. The festival is organized by a coalition of public, non-profit and university partners. For more information, visit the GreenFest website.
