Montgomery Parks will host a ribbon cutting for the updated Silver Spring Intermediate Neighborhood Park on April 15.
The celebration will include speakers and refreshments. There will be activities including cornhole, hula hoops and jump rope. The event starts at 11 a.m. and runs till 1 p.m.
Silver Spring Intermediate Park has a playground and courts for basketball, tennis, pickleball and soccer. Spanning over three and a half acres in Takoma Park, the park is the former site of Silver Spring Intermediate School.
The park’s renovation was planned with former Montgomery County Councilmember Hans Riemer using funds from Maryland’s Open Program Space. The renovation improved parking and park access. The courts and landscaping were also improved. Additionally, the renovation addressed drainage issues.
The event will be held at 7801 Chicago Avenue in Takoma Park. In the event of rain, Montgomery Parks will push the event to April 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
