The Arc Montgomery County awarded Montgomery Parks’ Program Access Office a Community Inclusion Award. Montgomery Parks announced the recognition in a press release on Friday.
The award recognizes the office for its dedication to supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc Montgomery County is a nonprofit that supports community members affected by disabilities like autism and Down syndrome.
The Program Access Office works to ensure individuals with disabilities are welcome to participate in activities in Montgomery Parks through providing inclusion and disability training to staff, supplying adaptive equipment and more.
“It is an honor to be recognized for our efforts to support people of all abilities in building active and fulfilling lives,” Montgomery Parks Director Mike Riley said in the press release. “Our Program Access Office is a dedicated team of inclusion specialists working hard to make parks and programs easily accessible for everyone.”
