Montgomery Parks is telling residents to look out for snakes, including copperheads.
Earlier this week, an X (formerly Twitter) user shared a photo of a copperhead snake on the Lake Needwood Trail in Rock Creek Regional Park. In response, Montgomery Parks posted that this is the breeding season and that park users should be cautious.
Look out for snakes, including copperheads at this time of year! This is their breeding season and the time they take advantage of heat-gathering hard surfaces to regulate their body temperature. (1/3) https://t.co/DUwfJjxDqd

Fortunately, according to Montgomery Parks, copperheads are not aggressive by nature. But because of their ability to camouflage, there can be some close encounters with people and pets they warn.
