The Montgomery County Sports Hall of Fame is holding its 2023 induction ceremony on Sunday, Oct. 29, at the Silver Spring Civic Building in Downtown Silver Spring. The event is free and open to the public.
The fifth Hall of Fame class features prominent figures such as Georgetown Prep football coach Jim Fegan, the late Gaithersburg High School football coach John Harvill, Paint Branch basketball standout Tracy Jackson, Springbrook High and U.S. national team soccer player Joanna Lohman, tennis player Harold Solomon and ESPN sportscaster from Sherwood High School, Scott Van Pelt.
The Hall of Fame classes honor county natives who have achieved high levels of local or national recognition in their respective fields. Additionally, the honor highlights their contributions directed toward the county.
Doors open for the ceremony at 5:30 p.m., with the ceremony starting at 6:00. Business or sports-themed attire is recommended.
