
A Montgomery Village father was sentenced to seven years in prison Thursday after pleading guilty in November 2024 to six counts of child neglect involving all six of his minor children.
Dominique Moore, 47, must also serve five years of supervised probation following his release.
Dominique Moore and his wife, Cynthia Moore, were arrested in May 2023 and indicted on charges of second-degree depraved-heart murder, involuntary manslaughter and child neglect following an investigation into the death of their 17-year-old child.
Emergency workers had gone to the family home on Quill Place in Montgomery Village for an unresponsive child and discovered the family living in unsafe and unsanitary conditions, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s office.
Cynthia Moore was declared guilty of six counts of child neglect following a trial in October 2024. She was sentenced to 21 years.
Montgomery County Police reported at the time of the couple’s arrest that their 17-year-old had Multiple Sclerosis and diabetes and had been recently diagnosed with COVID-19.
Officers also reported that the family was living in squalor. Because of the unsanitary conditions, six children ranging in age from five to 15 years, were removed from the home and placed with Child Protective Services at the time of their parents’ arrest.
