Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire outbreak in Bethesda Tuesday night, in which more than 90 firefighters were on the scene, according to MCFRS Chief Public Information Officer Pete Piringer.
According to MCFRS Assistant Chief Public Information Officer David Pazos, MCFRS crews were dispatched to a fire in Bethesda’s high-rise apartments Promenade Towers on Tuesday at around 11:20 p.m. Pazos said the crews located heavy smoke on the sixth floor, dispatching a second alarm. Piringer said the crews extinguished the fire. The 18-story building did not have a sprinkler system, according to Piringer.
There were no injuries and several people were displaced, according to Piringer.
Piringer said the fire began in a hallway closet and was accidental. The estimate is $1.5 million in damages, including $500,000 in content.
