More Than $9,400 Raised for Families Impacted by Clarksburg Apartments Fire

More than $9,400 has been raised so far to help families impacted by a fire at a Clarksburg apartment building this month.

As of Tuesday morning, $9,448 has been raised, according to Montgomery Housing Partnership (MHP). MHP and the county launched the relief fund one week ago.

The relief fund will close by next Wednesday, Sept. 4. MHP will aim to distribute funds by the end of next week.

Those who want to contribute can donate here. 100% of donations will go to affected residents.

More than 40 residents were displaced in the Aug. 17 fire — which is believed to be arson — at 12832 Clarksburg Square Road, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS). Four residents were evaluated for injuries and two were taken to the hospital with non-critical injuries. Four firefighters were injured, with two taken to the hospital with non-critical injuries. Three pets were killed, according to County Executive Marc Elrich.

As of last week investigators were working to have formal charges filed against a juvenile suspect.
