A moving vehicle caught fire after it experienced mechanical issues in Silver Spring Sunday morning.
The fire was reported at approximately 9 a.m. at Colesville Road between East West Highway and 16th Street, according to Pete Piringer, Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.

The family inside the car was able to safely escape the burning vehicle, officials said. No injuries were reported.
Another vehicle in the area was exposed to the flames and also caught on fire. Both vehicles were declared a total loss, according to Piringer.
After the fire was extinguished, county hazmat officials worked to contain a fuel spill on the road that got into a nearby storm drain, Piringer said.
The Maryland Department of Environment and the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) were notified and assisted fire officials with the fuel spill.
