The Smithsonian National Zoo is hosting a nine-day celebration from Sept. 23 to Oct. 1 as a farewell to the zoo’s giant pandas that will be returning to China.
Panda Palooza will include multiple scheduled events intended to “engage audiences of all ages in a series of fun, family-friendly and conservation-forward events,” according to the Zoo’s website.

The pandas, Mei Xiang, Tian Tian, and Xiao Qi Ji, will be heading back to China by early Dec. 2023 as part of an agreement between the National Zoo and the China Wildlife Conservation Association.
