Neighbors Say Little Falls Parkway Poses Dangers for Bikers and Drivers

Little Falls Parkway encompasses a mile and half stretch of road from Massachusetts Avenue to downtown Bethesda. Four lanes with a median strip, it was built in the 1960s as a pleasant passage connecting several communities.  But lately the Parkway has become a flashpoint in the struggle between the Parks Commission and the neighbors who live around it.

For now, further changes to Little Falls Parkway have been put on hold by the County Council. Concerned with the controversy over the current configuration, the Council is withholding further funds. County Executive Marc Elrich has expressed his inclination to restore the Parkway to its former full traffic flow. Meanwhile, the Parks Commission promises a revised approach for presentation to the Council in “…three to six months.”
