The new Marriott Bethesda Downtown at Marriott HQ opened Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The 12-story hotel at 7707 Woodmont Ave. is Marriott International’s 8000th location. It features 245 sleeping rooms, including 14 suites and one presidential unit.
It will bring nearly 100 jobs to the area, said David Marriott, director of the Marriott International Board of Directors. Plus, Marriott International’s new global headquarters adjacent to the hotel are planned to open soon, according to a news release.
“They’ve also got a workforce that’s actually going to be up here, so, more than just a hotel, a lot of people are working in Marriott itself,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “So, we’re hoping it’s one of the things that helps capitalize and drive more people to be up here and take advantage of what’s being offered here.”
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, MyMCM joined a tour of the new hotel and its amenities.

Marriott’s current headquarters have been located at 10400 Fernwood Road – about 5 miles North – in Bethesda since 1968.
