Rate changes in Montgomery County-operated garages, parking lots, and street meters will begin starting Jan. 3 and continue to fluctuate through April of 2022.
According to a county press release, the new rates were adopted as part of the Fiscal Year 2022 budget process, and will be “implemented in stages over the following months.”
The new prices were calculated based on the parking district’s budget and subsequently reviewed by the Montgomery Department of Transportation (MCDOT), the County Executive’s Office, and approved by Council resolution.
The county says that MCDOT’s Division of Parking Management will be placing signs about the new rates in the affected areas in advance of the changes.
The following facilities will be affected on Jan. 3:
- Bethesda Lots ($2.00/hr)
- Bethesda Garages 40, 47, 57 ($1.75/hr)
- Bethesda Garages 31, 35, 36, 42, 49 ($1.50/hr)
- Wheaton Streets ($1.25/hr)
- Wheaton Garages ($1.00/hr)
The following facilities will be affected on Jan. 10:
- Wheaton Lots ($1.00/hr), requiring payment 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday
The following facilities will be affected on Feb. 1:
- Bethesda Garage 11 ($1.50/hr), requiring payment 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Parking permit rates affected Feb. 1:
- Silver Spring Convenience Access Pass, Only Garages 60 and 61 ($195 per month)
- Silver Spring Daily Permit ($15.00)
- Bethesda Convenience Access Pass and Parking Convenience Sticker ($195 per month)
- Bethesda Daily Permit & Lost Ticket ($22.50)
Silver Spring facilities:
Silver Spring Lots, Garages, and Streets will not see a change in rate, however, hours requiring payment will change.
- Garages 3, 7, 9, 16, 58, 60, and 61 will require payment from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, effective Jan. 3.
- Garages 2, 4, 5, and 55 will require payment from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, effective Jan. 18.
- Silver Spring Streets will require payment from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, effective April 1
