A new aquatic center is coming to Montgomery County.
The Montgomery County Department of Recreation will host the grand opening of the Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic Center on Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. The event will include tours of the facility and activities for families, and the facility will be open to the public from noon until 4 p.m.
The facility, located at 1319 Apple Ave., is part of a public-private partnership between the Housing Opportunity Commission and Lee Development Group, and has been under construction since 2019, the county’s Department of General Services said on its website.
The new center will include pools, a gym, dance studios, a culinary arts kitchen and more. The facility will also have senior programs coordinated with Holy Cross Hospital, the department said.
Those interested in attending should RSVP to monika.hammer@montgomerycountymd.gov by Feb. 16. Free parking will be available at 8530 Cameron St.
