In October 2020, Montgomery County joined 70 other jurisdictions in celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day on the second Monday of October—which was historically known as Columbus Day.
Indigenous Peoples’ Day recognizes that Natives were the first inhabitants of the Americas and honors the many indigenous communities in the United States today.
