Welcome to MCM’s Weekend Roundup of events in Montgomery County. Here are nine things to do this weekend, November 10-12.
Friday, November 10
Museum Shop Holiday Market: Strathmore brings together area museum and cultural shops gift shops to the Mansion at Strathmore in North Bethesda. The popular holiday bazaar is back for its 34th year and it takes place on Nov. 9-Nov. 11 open daily 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Entrance to the market is free, with a suggested donation of $10. Veterans Weekend at Seneca Creek State Park: Veterans and their families are invited to come spend a fun weekend at the park. Nov. 10-11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include a run with the Rangers, paddle Clopper Lake, meet puppies from Warrior Canine Connection, and more. Mamma Mia! Winston Churchill High School presents the musical with five performances from Nov. 10-17 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here.
Saturday, November 11
Model Train Show: The Rockville Lions Club hosts the 32nd annual model train show at the Rockville Senior Center Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday from noon-4 p.m. Entrance fee: Adults $5 | kids 3 to 13 $3 | kids under 3 free. The Senior Center is located at 1150 Carnation Drive in Rockville. The proceeds of the event benefit the clubs charitable activities. For more information, click here.
Holiday Art Market: Gaithersburg’s Arts Barn and Kentlands Mansion host the ‘Here Come the Holidays’ art market today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees can expect to find a curated selection of art, including paintings, ceramics, jewelry, and textiles created by local and regional artists. The Arts Barn and Kentlands Mansion are located at 311 and 320 Kent Square Road in Gaithersburg. Parking is available. Free admission. For more information, click here.
Veteran’s Day Skate: Any active duty military personnel or veterans skate for free (skate rental included) at the Wheaton and Cabin John Ice Arenas. Check skating hours for each arena here.
Sunday, November 12
Open Studios: VisArts’ resident artists open their studios to the community from noon-4 p.m. This is a great opportunity to casually meet VisArts’ resident artists in their respective studios, learn about their practice, ask questions, and spend time in VisArts’ contemporary art galleries. Fiddler on the Roof: Olney Theatre Center’s production of the classical musical ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ opened Wednesday. Performances continue through Dec. 31. Ticket prices range from $35-$101. Kids Art: Children are invited to make a gratitude tree at this Takoma Park Library event Sunday at 1 p.m. Free, but limited seats. To register, click here. The library is currently under renovations and is temporarily located at 7505 New Hampshire Avenue.
