The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Red Flag Warning from noon until 8 p.m. Tuesday for conditions that promote the rapid spread of wildfires.
According to the NWS, a combination of strong winds, low humidity, and warm weather can cause the rapid spread of wildfires. Winds blowing from the West up to 25 mph are predicted. Gusts may be as high as 45 mph. Given these conditions, all outdoor burning is discouraged.
Any fire that develops has the potential to spread rapidly, according to the NWS warning.
Fire officials say it’s extremely important to discard flammable materials properly. For example, do not throw cigarettes out the car window.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect for most areas south of I-68/I-70 from noon until 8PM this evening.
