Friday, October 4

She Persisted
Glen Echo

Presented by Adventure Theatre at Glen Echo Park this musical is based on the book She Persisted by Chelsea Clinton. The show follows fourth-grader Naomi’s field trip where she learns about amazing women who overcame barriers. The show opens Friday, Oct. 4 and runs through Nov. 3. Tickets cost $27. Countryside Artisans Fall Gallery Studio Tour
Agricultural Reserve

The tour offers a unique, self-guided driving tour of artist studios this weekend from Oct. 4-6. Admission is free. The tour occurs rain or shine. Studios are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A list of participating studios with a map may be found on the Countryside Artisans website. Each studio is located within a 30-mile radius of Sugarloaf Mountain.

Katherine Knight Art Exhibit
Rockville

Explore Katherine Knight’s solo exhibit, “Pool,” at VisArts’ Concourse Gallery, on display from now through Oct. 27. Knight creates mixed media collages that transform figures into 3D installations. Gallery hours Friday noon to 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday are noon to 4 p.m. Learn more on the VisArts website.

Ping Pong & Popcorn
White Oak

Enjoy popcorn and table tennis games with friends, family and neighbors from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at the White Oak Community and Recreation Center. Paddles and balls will be provided. Free. Ages 12 and up. Learn more here.

Tablefest Block Party
Downtown Silver Spring

Shepherd’s Table hosts this neighborhood block party from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5. Several Silver Spring restaurants will share a signature dish for the party and there will be family entertainment, and a short program with a silent auction. Taste of Bethesda
Downtown Bethesda

Bethesda’s celebrated food and music festival returns for its 32nd edition on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will showcase over 40 restaurants alongside a lively entertainment lineup on four stages. Admission is free, with food, beer, and wine tickets available on-site in bundles of five for $10. Learn more here.

Arts & Crafts Fall Fair
Downtown Silver Spring

Butler’s Orchard has offered pumpkin picking fun for more than 40 years. Customers may pick their own pumpkin for .75 cents per pound or buy a pre-picked pumpkin. The annual Pumpkin Festival features hayrides, live music, corn hole games, mazes, and more from now through Nov. 3. Admission starts at $11 per person.  Learn more and register here.

Takoma Park Street Festival

The popular Takoma Park Street Festival returns for its 43rd year of music, vendors, food and fun. The free festival takes place Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located on Carroll Avenue in Takoma Park, Maryland to Carroll Street, NW in Takoma, D.C. There will be more than 185 vendors booths, live music from 18 local bands and food trucks. The Takoma Park Volunteer Fire Department holds their yearly open house during the festival. Yoga for Every Body
Olney

Yoga classes are back at Olney Library. Teens, adults, and older adults are invited to a free, basic yoga class Sunday, Oct. 6 from 3;30-5 p.m. Bring a yoga mat and a beach towel. Two yoga blocks are optional but a great idea. No experience is necessary and registration is not required. Learn more here.
